چکیده
Acute hemorrhagic encephalomyelitis (AHEM) is the most severe form of acute disseminated (ADEM). Patients with AHEM usually have unfavorable outcomes high mortality rate. We reported a middle-aged male, who was diagnosed and died 35 days after admission even under intensive immune therapy. Clinical courses were recorded serial MR images demonstrated to illustrate rapidly changes in brain parenchyma. By highlighting these aspects, we hope provide valuable insights for future studies potential advancements management AHEM.

Fatal hemorrhagic pneumonia: Don’t forget Stenotrophomonas maltophilia
We present a case of fatal hemorrhagic pneumonia secondary to Stenotrophomonas maltophilia in a patient with acute myeloid leukemia. S. maltophilia is commonly a non-virulent pathogen. However, in the immunocompromised, it is generally associated with bacteremia after central venous catheter placement or pneumonia. Hemorrhagic pneumonia is a rare presentation of this bacteria, with only 31 case...
متن کاملFatal dengue hemorrhagic fever imported into Germany.
Dengue virus (DENV) is an arthropod-borne virus (family Flaviviridae) causing dengue fever or dengue hemorrhagic fever. Here, we report the first fatal DENV infection imported into Germany. A female traveler was hospitalized with fever and abdominal pain after returning from Ecuador. Due to a suspected acute acalculous cholecystitis, cholecystectomy was performed. After cholecystectomy, severe ...
متن کاملMouse adenovirus type 1 causes a fatal hemorrhagic encephalomyelitis in adult C57BL/6 but not BALB/c mice.
Mouse adenovirus type 1 (MAV-1) produces a lethal disease in newborn or suckling mice characterized by infectious virus and viral lesions in multiple organs. Previous reports of MAV-1 infection of adult mice generally described serologic evidence of infection without morbidity or mortality. However, our current results demonstrate that MAV-1 causes a fatal illness in adult C57BL/6(B6) mice (50%...
متن کاملA rapid progressive and fatal case of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in a newly diagnosed HIV patient
Background Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) is one of the frequent and severe oncologic pathologies associated with HIV infection. Unlike in immunocompetent patients, this pathology manifests more aggressively in HIV-positive patients, frequently with severe systemic extranodal involvement, affecting the gastrointestinal tract, liver, bone marrow, central nervous system (CNS). Along extranodal invo...
متن کاملAcute disseminated encephalomyelitis.
Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a monophasic inflammatory disorder of the central nervous system (CNS). Unlike viral encephalitis, microorganisms do not invade the CNS. Instead, ADEM is a postinfectious disease mediated by auto-reactive cells or molecules. Clinical characteristics of ADEM are consistent with disseminated involvement of the CNS, including encephalopathy and pyrami...
